Panama: Through the Eyes of the Harpy Eagle Coming Soon: Panama photography book. Panama is a unique country. It is a nation of contrasting geographical features which unites Central and South America, as well as the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. Its territory of 75.517 km², holds a vast variety of flora and fauna, lush landscapes, and natural resources within its tropical climate which drives economic growth. The country that we will showcase in this book, is home to the grand Panama Canal, one of the largest works of engineering that has contributed to communication, progress and trade at the global level. International support and the leadership of visionaries from the United States made the longstanding dream of uniting two great oceans a reality. Its successful construction was a result of the skilled engineering and management of John F. Stevens and Colonel George W. Goethals. In 1977, United States and Panama ran a joint operation for the Canal´s maintenance and management through an international agreement. The Republic of Panama assumed complete responsibility for its operation on December 31st, 1999 and continues up until today. Each year 14.000 vessels with 300 million tons of goods, which is around 5% of world trade, pass through the canal. However, Panama is not just a transit country, as it has commonly been referred to. This country is home to a rich culture which takes us from the Historic District in Panama City to the majestic skyscrapers over 70 stories high which are the headquarters of businesses, hotels, and services that are developing continuously. We then enter the tropical rainforest, bursting with magnificent flora and fauna, and welcoming natives. Without traveling too far, we reach the beautiful shores of the Caribbean, that inundate the senses with crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. Each nation has…

New book: Jacksonville through the eyes of the osprey A BOOK WITH A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Florida lies Jacksonville, a city sometimes overlooked by folks travelling to points further south. But what they miss is a hidden gem that is a natural paradise for anyone looking for an affordable vacation spot or even a place to call home. In this book you will discover a thriving community that is begging to be explored. On the banks of the Atlantic Ocean, with approximately 1,100 miles of waterways, Jacksonville boasts more shoreline than any other city in the nation. It is also home to the largest urban park system in the contiguous United States, including city parks and gardens, state parks, and national parks. For those interested in world- class dining, Jacksonville delivers, with a thriving culinary and craft-beer scene. This special-edition book is part of a series that will show readers the characteristic features of many unique and varied lands. To showcase the alluring vistas of Jacksonville and Northeast Florida, we view the stunning landscape from above. Our perspective is through the eyes of the osprey, a graceful yet powerful bird that soars freely in Florida’s skies. With an impressive five-foot wingspan, the osprey is often mistaken for the American bald eagle, but as an expert angler, the osprey is a perfect symbol of Jacksonville. Like the city’s residents, it thrives near the water and is strong, fearless, and adaptable. In the pages of this photography book, you will discover the visual beauty that makes Jacksonville “The River City by the Sea” and a “Bold City of the South,” and the many reasons why some say “It’s Easier Here.” Each photograph will delight you with the colors, shapes, and textures of the landscape that make…

Coming soon: Gamboa Through The Eyes of the Sloth A BOOK WITH A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE Panama possesses one of the greatest biodiversities in proportion to its territory, with over 11,000 species of plants and animals, including 3 of the 6 existing sloth species. However, despite the fact that 35% of its territory is protected from a total area of 75,517km2, these ecosystems face great threats due to the expansion of urban and industrial areas. To understand an uncommon animal like the Sloth, we have chosen a different lens, one that observes a breathtaking landscape through gradual imperceptible movements. This viewpoint may be appreciated through our large format coffee-table photography book. In this book you will become familiarized with sloths and other tropical forest species that are in the category of endangered animals. The APPC Foundation is dedicated to rescuing and contributing to the conservation of these species, including sloths that are under threat. Sloths invest their energy in tasks that are necessary for survival. Allow yourself the opportunity to enjoy life from the perspective of a lethargic creature. Perhaps we may learn from sloths by basking in peace or moving at a slow pace before facing hectic day-to-day activities. This book gives us a well-deserved break to fall in love with Panama´s tropical forest and learn about the Pan American Association for Conservation (APPC). Our book praises the biodiversity of Panama, and at the same time it represents a magnificent opportunity to educate ourselves and learn first-hand about an association that has a mission worth supporting. Their main objective is to promote a balance between people and nature, as well as protect and preserve wildlife for the benefit of future generations. Our pages will take you on a brief journey through the Gamboa Rainforest Reserve, which gives eco-educational tours in…
